This week in the Triangle Room, we investigated construction. The students had many opportunities to build and we loved to see their imaginations at work! We used this construction theme to learn math concepts, to journal, to read and write together, to create art, and to move our bodies.
We enjoyed
- creating a town of building out of assorted materials
- creating homes that could hopefully withstand some blowing by the big bad wolf
- having a block-stacking challenge
- creating buildings in our dramatic play area
- painting with construction vehicles driving through mud
- learning about different construction vehicles through books and song before creating our own

Our dramatic play area this week was a construction zone complete with blocks, tools, construction gear, and pictures of different types of building from around the world. |

construction vehicles and playdoh are a great combination |

Another art choice this week was painting by rolling construction vehicles through mud. |
On Thursday we read The Three Little Pigs and discussed different types of homes. The students had the chance to create homes out of assorted materials and then the wolf (attached to a hair dryer) tried to blow their homes down.

Fun in Hudspeth Hall |
The students had the opportunity to create a town of buildings out of assorted materials. I was pretty impressed with the creativity. Their town is on display in the hallway outside of our classroom if you would like to see it in person!

One of my favorite scenes- a classroom full of children enjoying books. |
