- We read eight books about color: Cat's Colors, Brown Bear, Mouse Paint, White Rabbit's Color Book, Pete the Cat and His White Shoes, My Many Colored Days, A Color of His Own, and A Look at Colors.
- We played color recognition and color matching games together at circle.
- We had many opportunities to paint this week, often mixing colors to create new colors.
- While reading Mouse Paint, we were able to mix colors in a bag and watch them change into a new color right before our eyes. Magic!
- We moved our bodies to songs about color, even sometimes getting to jump and bounce into pretend puddles of paint.
- We experimented with vinegar, baking soda, and food coloring. What fun!
- We really loved the magnetic Pete the Cat story during circle on Wednesday and had fun putting different colored shoes on Pete during free choice.
- We wore our favorite color to school and created a graph showing the favorites of the class.
- We sorted by color- painted ping pong balls into egg cartons, pom poms into cardboard tubes, colorful bears into cups, pie ingredients into a sectioned pie, etc.
- We had fun painting with shaving cream and bright colors.
- We colored onto coffee filters with markers and then sprayed the filters with water to watch the colors run into one another.
- We looked in magazines to find colorful objects, then cut them out and glued them onto a large sheet of paper in color categories.
- We created colorful bracelets and bag chains using pipe cleaner and colored straws.
