Earth Day in the Triangle Room

Dear Triangle Room Families,

First, it was our pleasure to have Miss Denise join us in the Triangle Room.  She is a great addition to our class, is enjoying getting to know the children and is already busily planning her week to teach!

   Our learning activities last week centered on Earth Day and taking care of the Earth.

We read the following books:

     * This is Our Earth
     * Earth Day
     * Why Should I Recycle?
     * The Adventures of a Plastic Bottle
     * Children of the Earth Remember
     * The Lorax
     * Junk Yard

   Our many Earth art activities included: hand print Earths, coffee filter Earths created with markers and water spray, marble-painting Earths, and  Q-tip painting!  The sensory table had sand and toy endangered animals.  We learned about the recycling symbol and practiced the 3 R's-- Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle!  During choice time, the students could sort recycling materials,  fish in a polluted pond (catching litter along with their fish),
or make patterns with pictures of the Earth and the recycling symbol.

   On Thursday, we played Environmental BINGO!  We used plastic bottle caps to cover nature and recycling related pictures! We ended our day with singing "Happy Earth Day to you".

    The children also worked on a few sweet surprises (don't ask 😊!) for our Mother Appreciation Tea this Thursday!
We hope you will be able to join us on Thursday from 11:10-12:00!

Miss Diann
